About

History

In 1975, Ken McLaren embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by establishing a modest metalworking enterprise known as Concord Press Brake. His business focused on crafting metal components for the trucking industry, and it also catered to various specialized needs within the local community.

After successfully running Concord Press Brake for five years, Ken made the strategic decision to acquire Tri-State Iron Works, an established business with roots dating back to the late 1950s. Tri-State Iron Works had already garnered a strong reputation for its expertise in fabricating ornamental stair rails, balconies, fire escapes, and steel stairs.

In early 2024, Ken retired, passing the ownership and daily operations of the company to his two dedicated and capable sons, Keith and Ryan. Both have decades of experience working with the company, and they are proud and enthusiastic about assuming their new roles.

Safety

Tri-State Iron Works proudly maintains a stellar safety record. Our dedication to training and certification is continuous, surpassing OSHA’s stipulated requirements. While some may view pre-erection meetings as optional, we consider them mandatory before commencing any installation. To ensure OSHA compliance, we insist on having written, site-specific plans for every job we undertake.

Culture

Throughout the years, Ken nurtured the business with a steadfast commitment to his employees. He invested in their growth and fostered a workplace culture where everyone genuinely feels part of the team. Most employees have remained with the company for many years and openly express a desire to continue doing so. As new owners, Keith and Ryan recognize the importance of exceptional employees and strive to reciprocate their value in every possible way.
